Lyra's Bindings is the web-store attached to the binding and publishing company Lyra's Books. 

​

This website was created for re-bind work only, while the main website (www.lyrasbooks.com) will focus primarily on the publishing side of things. On this website you will find recent work for sale, as well as details of some previous work to browse.

​

Lyra's Books is a fine press publishing company and 're-bindery' and was founded by award-winning bookbinder Richard Tong. Richard works as a full-time binder in Shropshire (UK) for Ludlow Bookbinders as well as running Lyra's in his free time.

​

Richard was trained by master bookbinder Brian Settle (of Smith Settle and The Fine Bindery) and more recently by master binder Philip Parkins of Ludlow Bookbinders. Richard has been trained in all aspects of bookbinding, from forwarding and box making, to gilding and finishing and continues to hone his skills on a daily basis.

Working for Ludlow Bookbinders has led to many prestigious commissions including work for the British Royal Family, former Prime Ministers, former Presidents, rock and pop stars and even the Pope. Richard has also created personal bindings for authors such as Christopher Tolkien and Neil Gaiman and artists Chris Riddell and Paul Kidby.
